Also known as ‘yoga of awareness’, Kundalini yoga opens your heart, builds strength and releases the energy of the spine, which is referred to as the Kundalini energy. One of the oldest known forms of yoga, Yogi Bhajan brought Kundalini to the western world in 1969. This is without a doubt one of the more spiritual forms of yoga practice. The emphasis is on breath and movement and presents both a physical and mental challenge.
Kundalini can vary from class to class from extremely demanding to totally chilled – what you can be sure of is that you will find yourself doing things you never thought your would. Classes are normally accompanied by music, dancing, chanting, singing and just good old letting go. Each class starts with an opening chant and ends with a deep meditation.
